Keep On Running
by Willie Murphy

Keep on running lonely runners

Everybody's running, running
Hey don't I know it 'cause I'm running too
Deep in debt to a future that never comes
Ahead there's a pie in the sky for you

Year after year the wheels keep turning
Long time now to enlightenment
And the sadness we all carry in our hearts
It's been there so long no one questions it

Keep on running weary runners

Deep in the sky the sun keeps setting
So far away through the smoke and haze
Gone are the days of the earth forgetting
Gone the traditions of the old ones' ways

Bright are the lights of the people's city
But not as bright as the sun that used to shine there
Warm is the glow in the evening window
But not as warm as the love that we used to share

Keep on running baby

Do you wanna keep on running lonely runners?
Can we stop here for a while and maybe try to look back?
To see where we've come to from

Everybody's running, running
Hey can't we see what we're running to
All desires are tamed to play the game now
If we stop this running what else could we do?
Stop this running what else could we do?

Running
Some trying to catch up
Running
Some trying to keep up
Running
Some trying to get ahead
Running
And there's a few trying to stay ahead

Keep on running weary runners
Can we stop here for a while? And maybe we should look back
Try to see
See where we've come to from

Keep on running weary runners
Take a look at the river
The river don't run it flows
Take a look at the trees, baby
Trees don't run they grow

Keep on running....
